The term ‘testimony’ is a formal statement which is given in a court of law and is used to give witness to their personal experience or knowledge about a situation. When the term ‘Christian’ is added to the term ‘testimony’ it means someone is a Christian witness to the saving grace and power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Christian testimony is given when someone has repented and accepted Jesus Christ into their life and how they are now experiencing a relationship with the God of the Bible through the moving of the Holy Spirit in their heart.
It can be about a persons journey to becoming a Christian – also known as a conversion story where a Christian shares how they became a Christian by God’s miraculuous intervention in their life through specific events or it could include how He brought them through a challenging time in their life building their faith in Him through that experience and describing the continual process by which the Spirit who now indwells in them leads, guides, molds and shapes them into mature Christians.
Not only do Christian testimonies encourage, inspire, and uplift believers in their walk with God, they also bring unbelievers into the knowledge of God.
In Luke 8:39 we are encouraged as Christians to share the things that God has done for us,
“Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.”
Do you have a testimony you would like to share? The Bible says that Christians will produce fruit (John 15:8, Matthew 3:10) and your testimony may produce fruit for God’s kingdom. A person searching for the truth may be able to relate to your story, bringing them into the knowledge of God. Every single testimony is unique and it gives us a bit more insight into how God works. We would love to add your story here so please contact us! If you are not sure where to start then please contact us. We can give you a few tips on writing an effective testimony.
If you are a Christian, it is important for us to add here that not every person will experience the same encounters with the Lord that may be written here. The Lord works in countless different ways in people’s lives and as Christians we shouldn’t be looking to experience specific encounters as others have.
As 1 Corinthians 12:4 reminds us,
“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.”
Have a look below at all of the testimonies showing the incredible work that God has done and is doing in Christians lives. Enjoy!
